Violent Soho

The suburb of Mansfield, 4122 Queensland. International success story... A peculiar coupling one may think. Yet spawning from Queensland's bible belt come 4 piece Violent Soho. A reaction against everything and everyone. Wearing their hearts firmly emblazoned across their home made tee shirts these four unlikely lads scream it loud and proud with a guttural roar that doesn't let up from beginning to end.

Kicking around Brisbane for the last 5 years Violent Soho (James Tidswell – guitars, Luke Boerdam – vocals, guitars, Michael Richards – drums and Luke Henery – Bass) took everyone by surprise with their self funded, self released debut LP "We Don't Belong Here". Touring the length and breadth of the country the lads packed their bags at the end of 2008 and headed over international waters for a whirlwind run of showcases that saw them performing in London, New York and LA, to a host of industry whose who including amongst others the infamous Rick Rubin (at his studio in Mailbu) and Sonic Youth's main man Thurston Moore who stood tall at the front of a New York showcase in Lower East Side hipster hangout Piano's, dancing his way through the set and applauding loudly and vigorously!

It was this meeting that spawned the beginning of a beautiful relationship between Mr Moore and Messers Soho. By early 2009 the band had signed with Thurston's prestigious Ecstatic Peace label and were once again headed overseas, this time to the peace and quiet of the Welsh countryside, to Rockfield studio's where amongst others, albums by Queen, Stone Roses, Oasis and Black Sabbath had been written and recorded in years gone by. Settling into the farm Violent Soho would call home for the next 5 weeks, the boys were introduced to their producer Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Distillers) and started laying down the tracks that would constitute their international debut album.
